When it comes to Toyota’s new Chryslers, the company is a little too much for some buyers
- July 28, 2021
Toyota is getting more than its fair share of heat for its new Chrysler 300 and 300Z models.
The automaker was hit with a record-breaking $16 billion lawsuit over faulty performance ratings from one of its biggest competitors in the auto industry, and the lawsuit also exposed a slew of other problems for the company.
But what if you’re not the one buying the car?
Here’s a look at what you can expect from the new Chr line of luxury vehicles.
The new Chri is a crossover, and that makes it an interesting choice for those looking to take the plunge into luxury.
But the new 300Z is a bit more modest.
It’s a hatchback that gets a few more options, but its interior and styling remain mostly the same.
The 300Z has more interior space than the 300, and it comes with a smaller and lighter interior, too.
In fact, the 300Z only has about 5,000 more square feet of space than its predecessor, the new Toyota Prius Prime.
And if you want to get a taste of the interior, the top-of-the-line Prius will sell you for $19,900 with a 6.2-liter V6 engine.
The 300Z comes with standard equipment, but you’ll have to fork over more to get some more.
There are some nice extras, like an 8.3-inch touch screen, a 12-inch rear touchscreen, and a 6-speaker stereo.
The dash features a 13.3:1 audio-leveling system that you can adjust manually with a button on the center console.
There’s a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that makes 270 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque.
The only thing that’s different about the 300 is the interior.
It looks and feels a little more upscale than the other two, with a slightly higher center console, a bigger leather seating area, and more comfortable seating.
But if you really want to go the luxury route, the Chrystal 300Z will sell for $29,900 without a $1,500 destination charge.
If you’re looking for a bigger-screened, bigger-sized SUV, you might want to look elsewhere.
The 200Z comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen and a 4.0-liter engine, but the 200Z will also come with a more spacious 3.5 liter engine that can produce 270 hp.
But because of the higher-resolution screen, it will not be as spacious as the 300.
The Toyota Supra comes standard, with the standard 7- and 8-inch screens.
But even if you can’t afford the premium-priced 200Z, there are other choices.
The $24,700 300Z gets an 8-speeder V6 and a 2.7-liter inline-4 engine that produces 265 hp.
The 3.6-liter, four-cylinder is offered in a 1L and 2L trim levels, and you can choose the optional 4L engine with the same horsepower.
And if you still can’t get enough money, you can still opt for the Toyota Supras premium option with a 5.0 liter V6 with a 215 hp.
It comes with the base price of $31,900, and $30,900 of that comes with an option that adds a leather-trimmed steering wheel and heated front seats.
And it comes standard in a 2L with the option to get an additional 2L engine.
The new Toyota Supraman also comes with both an optional 6L engine and the option of a 3L engine, too, which makes it available with the Supra option for an additional $2,400.
The Toyota Supraban is a sports sedan that offers a range of options for a little extra.
It starts at $31.900, which includes an optional $1.500 destination fee and a $2.500 price tag for the 6L.
But it also includes the option for a 4L V6 that adds 215 hp and 280 lb-foot of torque, plus a 4-cylindered V8 engine that generates 300 hp.
And that adds up to 360 hp and 370 lb-force of torque in total.
There’s a nice little hatchback version of the Toyota Chrysta, too: The 300S, which starts at just $31 and starts with a 4C engine that adds 230 hp.
If you want something a little different, you could pick up the Toyota Rascal 300Z or the Toyota Highlander 300Z.
