Which buildings in Boston deserve more attention?
The Boston Interiors Association has created a list of the best of the Best, Best Interior Designers in Boston.
The list, which was compiled by the organization, focuses on interior architecture in the Boston area.
The list, titled Best Interior Architecture, includes some of the city’s most notable architects and interior designers, including the Boston Architectural Conservatory, the Boston Art Institute, the Harvard-trained Architectural Institute of Boston, the Architectural Society of Boston and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The Boston Interior Association has compiled this list of Boston’s top interior designers in the past few years.
The organization lists five categories that it considers: architecture, design, design-based, design in residential, and interior design.
In the list, the top five designers are James Jacobs (designed the iconic Boston Public Library, the Beacon, and other historic buildings), James Gentry (designing the Beacon), Matthew Haddad (designed The Bazaar) and Michael Zengel (designed and renovated the Boston Zoo and Boston Aquarium).
Other notable Boston-area interior designers include John Schafer (designed a variety of historic buildings, including The Bowery and the Charles River), Christopher Gorman (designed Boston College’s College of Arts and Sciences), and Charles A. Schmitt (designed St. Mary’s Cathedral).
A few Boston-based interior designers that are worth following include Paul G. Schreiber, Robert M. Paine, and Andrew Bowers.
The organization’s list of top interior architects in the city also includes some notable architects who worked in Boston during the 20th century, such as Henry Miller and James M. Murphy, and architects like David J. Stearns, Daniel B. Smith, and Frank Lloyd Wright.
